Bear Lake Campout

In mid-July we made our first attempt at getting away from home during this Pandemic.  We packed up our tent and cooler and headed to Bear Lake. Bear Lake is on the border of Utah and Idaho. It is the second largest natural freshwater lake in Utah, and has a beautiful turquoise blue water color.

The campground was fairly nice, just a short walk to the beach area with enough shade trees to provide some relief from the sun.

We made tinfoil dinners the first night, which were a big hit with the kiddos.  When we camped in Europe we were rarely ever allowed to have a campfire, so I was excited to do some campfire cooking.

And of course, S'mores.
(With peanut butter cups are my favorite.)

We spent a day playing on the beach, kayaking, swimming, and soaking up the sun.

On day two we met up with my dear friend from college.  Her family just happened to plan a trip to Bear Lake for the exact same dates as we did! And they brought their boat!  We loved getting to visit with them and our kiddos loved the experience of being towed behind the boat on this big float.

We finished our last day at Bear Lake with takeout and shakes from a local place. It was a fun camping trip and got us excited to try a little bit more camping here in Utah.
