A Suburban American 4th of July

We have been enjoying the past year in the US, and thanks to Coronavirus, we've also been enjoying a lot of time as a family. A few days before the 4th we took off work mid-week to enjoy Pineview Reservoir on a less crowded day.  Our plan worked out great!

On the actual 4th of July, there was a small parade of first responders that drove right down our street.  We had fun sitting out in the driveway and cheering for our local fire, ambulance, and police forces.

Then we walked down the block to a neighbor who was selling sno-cones.

We also spent some time relaxing in the backyard and playing corn hole.

And finally, we roasted some s'smores before lighting a few sparklers and small fireworks.  Some of our neighbors set off much larger fireworks which we also got to see after dark.

It was the definition of a low-key celebration, but we really loved being able to celebrate the 4th at home this year.
