The 36th of January
January was very busy, and also very homey for us. As such, it didn't feel like there was that much to memorialize on the blog. But when I went through my photos, there were actually several moments I'd like to remember.
The girlies and I spent a day sewing some cute polka dot skirts for them with this knit fabric I had in my fabric stash.
We also made eye masks, which were their idea.
My sweet husband and I went on a date to watch BYU Men's volleyball against Penn State. BYU won, of course. We grabbed In-N-Out burgers after the game.
We had some significant snowfall, which the kiddos have been enjoying very much.
Cha-Cha had been wanting to experiment with hair dye for a few months now. We finally made an appointment with our dear friend and stylist who made her purple hombre dreams come true.
For literally years now, Dad had been telling the kids and I about this one time he made chocolate mousse in college French class and impressed everyone. It had become a family joke of asking him when WE would get to experience this amazing mousse. Well, one random day in January, he bought the ingredients and made us a tiny dish of chocolate mousse for dessert. It was very rich and delicious- we just wished there was more of it!
In January we began re-reading the Book of Mormon as a family following the Come Follow Me curriculum. (Last year we read the entire New Testament.) I asked the little ones to make Lehi's vision out of Legos, and they did an awesome job!
Our Buddy had a big January! He was able to receive the Aaronic Priesthood and be ordained a Deacon. He also received his first temple recommend, and we took him to the Ogden Utah temple for the first time.
He is such a kind, gentle, smart kid. We are very proud of him and appreciate his enthusiasm for service and his example to our family.
And we celebrated with an ice cream afterwards, which was fun too!
Buddy also participated in his school spelling bee. He won his class, and finished 7th in the school. He was a little bummed because the top 5 got trophies, but there is always next year!
And last, but not least, I got to spend an evening eating great food and hanging out with these amazing friends from college. We talked about everything under the sun, and had so much fun reminiscing that I didn't get home until way past my bedtime. I hope we do it again soon!
